Face it
Face it. We have been had. When fuel prices were through the roof, airlines convinced us that we had to start paying for the transport of our luggage. We already paid for the plane ticket, and we were permitted one checked bag under 50 pounds before we were charged anything. We grumbled a little bit because airfare had already risen to ridiculous all time highs, but we paid for our clothing to suffer their own unique transport. Do you think anyone whose luggage was lost or delayed ever saw a penny of that additional fee returned to them? So what were they paying for, I wonder?Just a few months later we were hit again, despite the fact that fuel prices had plummeted. Now we were going to have pay per checked bag no matter how little they weighed. And of course they make sure you simply can not possible carry it on, so what is a traveler to do? The luggage transport fee was simply one more way for the airlines to increase their revenue. They raised airfare many times but to pay for luggage transport seems a little bit ridiculous. After all, you are buying the flight, all of your space on it, whether or not you need a luggage transport. So why are they charging us twice for the same simple idea. Luggage transport is just part of flying, or at least it used to be. Now it is just one more way to hand over more of your money to an industry that can’t make it work.
